A granite slot on Fourmile Creek east of Guffey, an hour from Colorado Springs, where the creek pools up under walls that run from short ledges to seriously tall. It is the rare Colorado jump that is a managed, signed, pay-to-park site rather than a spot people sneak into — which is why it sees 300 people on a summer Saturday.

Warnings

The top of the cove carries a BLM sign warning about jumping, and the heights reported here span 20 to 80 feet — the tall stuff is expert-only and the depth beneath it is not posted. Check your landing from the water first. The trail back up is steep enough to matter if you get hurt, and there is no cell service for most of the drive.

Access

BLM Royal Gorge Field Office site off CR 102, about 10 miles east of Guffey. $6 per vehicle from mid-May to mid-September, paid at the kiosk by card; dawn to dusk only, park in designated spots. A half-mile trail, steep in places, drops from the lot to the water. No alcohol, no glass, no amplified music, no camping — and rangers do enforce it.

Best conditions

June through early September. Go on a weekday; weekends are a crowd.
