A big log wedged about 60 feet above a deep pool in the North Umpqua gorge, 200 feet upstream of Toketee Falls. It has become a social-media jump and a rescue magnet; the pool below the main falls is also jumped from the rocks by people who climb through the fence at the viewpoint.

Warnings

Two major rope rescues from this gorge in 2025 and 2026, one a 40-foot fall and one a dislocated shoulder off the log. The Forest Service does not recommend jumping here, the gorge has no easy exit, and help is an hour away. Treat the 60-footer as expert-only or skip it.

Access

Toketee Falls trailhead off OR 138 about 58 miles east of Roseburg (Umpqua NF, free). The 0.4-mile trail ends at a viewing platform; the pools are reached by a steep off-trail scramble with ropes.

Best conditions

August at the lowest flow, and only for the lower rocks.
