One of Oregon's most photographed swimming holes — a strikingly clear, spring-fed turquoise pool on the McKenzie River with no visible inlet, fed entirely by underground springs. Cross-referenced across multiple McKenzie River guides and cliff-jumping roundups as a jump destination, though the water stays near 37-40F year-round.

Warnings

Water is 37-40F year-round; cold-shock gasp reflex is the main killer here. Ledges have a rock shelf below the takeoff - a 2016 jumper hit rock 20 ft down and landed in 18 inches of water. Submerged rocks near the walls. Drowning in June 2026 plus several earlier fatalities. Two-mile carry-out with no cell service.

Access

Reach via the McKenzie River Trail from Trailbridge Reservoir (about 2 miles one-way) or the shorter, steeper Tamolitch access from the upper trailhead. No vehicle access to the pool itself.

Best conditions

Summer only, and even then the water is dangerously cold — cold-water shock is the primary risk, not the jump itself.
