Warnings

Creek is cold year-round and the pool narrows quickly; scout the landing. Fire-damaged trees and trail sections after the Beachie Creek Fire.

Access

Opal Creek Trailhead at the end of FR 2209 (Northwest Forest Pass); about 3.5 miles each way past Jawbone Flats. The area burned in 2020 and access has reopened in stages, so check the Willamette NF site first.

Best conditions

Late July through September.
