Confirmed by 0 jumpers

The big granite boulder over the South Fork Kings River at Roads End, where John Muir gave talks and where every Kings Canyon visitor jumps 15 feet into a deep emerald pool. A sandy beach below and 100-degree canyon heat make it the park's swimming hole.

Warnings

The Kings looks calm and kills swimmers every few years in early season; the NPS closes the river when flow is high. Cold water, check depth under the rock in late summer.

Access

End of CA 180 at Roads End in Kings Canyon National Park (park entrance fee); the rock is a short walk from the parking area. Cedar Grove services 6 miles back.

Best conditions

July through September once the river drops. Unswimmable in June snowmelt.
