Warnings

Blind landings: the water is murky and the bottom is uneven rock. A 34-year-old suffered serious back and hip injuries from the 50-foot outcrop in June 2015, and a boy was badly hurt earlier that year. Utah State Parks discourages jumping but does not ban it.

Access

Echo State Park off I-80 at Coalville, or the Echo Canyon rest area; social trails drop from the highway shoulder to the rocks.

Best conditions

July and August. Levels fall fast once irrigation draw starts and the water is cold outside those months.
