Nobody publishes a verified depth under the landing zone, and the lake is drawn down through the season. Heavy boat traffic and wakes on summer weekends. Do not attempt the top without scouting from the water.
Access
Boat access. Launch at the Deschutes Campground ramp in Cove Palisades State Park (day-use fee) and head up the Deschutes arm; Dog Rock is on the canyon wall a short run from the ramp.
Best conditions
July and August. The lake is warm but wind builds in the canyon most afternoons.
