The pool a mile downstream of Candy Rock, named for the band of blue granite running through the rock above it. River-left is lined with boulders and cliffs giving everything from short drops to 20-25 foot jumps into deep, clear water, with taller lines up around 30 to 40 feet for people who know the landing.

Warnings

The heights here are what jumpers report, not measured, and the depth under each one changes every season — swim your landing first. The scramble in and out is loose granite and the canyon has no cell service. There is no quick way to get help to this stretch of river.

Access

Stanislaus National Forest above Avery, off Board's Crossing Road. It is about a mile downstream of Candy Rock with no maintained trail — people scramble the riverbed between the two. The pin is approximate; find Candy Rock first and work downstream.

Best conditions

Mid-July through September, once the North Fork drops. Earlier than that the river is pushing hard through the granite.
